Off the Dock on a New Adventure!

All good things……must come to an end?????  Our news is that Ti Amo will be sailing to a new home this summer.  We will miss the sport of sailing, but look forward to our future.  We know that she is in great hands with her new owners and we look forward to helping them get acclimated to Ti Amo and getting her to her new forever home.

While the decision to sell Ti Amo was a tough one, the purchase of our new vessel was an easy one.  Sauvy B became known to us through an acquaintance we made on our last trip to Florida.  We were in Saint Augustine when we met Bill and Shelly Kessinger on Holokai, a Selene 53.  We somehow invited ourselves aboard their boat and enjoyed a tour thinking all along there was no way we would ever find a Selene.  As luck would have it, Bill and Shelly knew of one coming on the market in their home area.  Once we got home and made the decision to look at Sauvy B located in Kemah Texas, we were on our way to take our first look.

As beautiful as she looks sitting there she was even more beautiful in person.  A well maintained vessel …….we were well on our way to seeing a dream become a reality.


Fast forward through a crazy month or so and we are on our way with our pickup truck loaded with supplies to bring Sauvy B (soon to be renamed Paradigm Shift) home to Virginia.


Robert and Carolyn Chancellor (Sauvy B’s owners)  made our transition seamless by allowing us to move aboard on their dock at their home and prepare for our journey across the Gulf of Mexico.  Greg and Robert had spent some time training prior during the sea trial but we were happy to have both his and Carolyn’s expertise before our departure.  Carolyn was the best at mapping out my many stops to pick up odds and ends that we still needed.

The crew is preparing and saying their final goodbyes.  Robert was giving Greg some final instructions while I stowed the electrical cord.

Oh….did I mention that our saving grace was that Barry and Robin Newland, other Selene owners and dear friends found time in their busy schedule to help us bring this beauty home?  We would never had known much about the Selene had it not been for them.  Everything is coming together nicely and while it has been an overwhelming adventure, somehow friends new and old made this all possible.

Waking to a blanket wrapped warm and cozy around you is one thing but to wake up early for what you know will be a long day on “the road” to a blanket of fog is no fun.  We watch as the moments flee away from us and try to decide if we hang here in West Palm and leave in the afternoon with an overnight to Key Largo or give it a few more moments.  I watch Marine Traffic and see that boats are leaving the harbor but they are much closer to the inlet (escaping from the marinas) than we.  Some calculating of mileage and sunset, tide and currents and we make the decision to make a run for No Name.   It took a while for the fog to clear but thankfully with the help of radar we could navigate when out on the open ocean.  After lunch we are headed for the mouth of the Miami Shipping Channel and low and behold there is only one ship and we happen to be on a course that will take us too close for comfort.  Thank goodness there is no fog now as this would have scared me to death had it emerged fr

De’ja Vu

We have honored the quarantine and are about ready to break loose but once again we are at the mercy of the testing sites. Unfortunately (I am not sure I have mentioned this before) there are no home test kits to be found anywhere in the area. Heck even Amazon says it will not have any available until the end of the month. So we will head to the testing facility tomorrow and once again stand in line and wait. It has been a long eight days now and I wish I had something to show for it. Maybe the floors could have been cleaned and all the windows…….I did get some of the louvered doors in the main salon and galley cleaned. But to be honest I have been lazy. I have allowed whatever this Omicron thing is to have its way so that I can get over it quicker. I have a tendency to fight through a cold and as I told others, I would typically have gone to work with this. But I have rested, drank my water, pushed my vitamins and eaten my well balanced diet.
